Direct VAG part numbers, live inventory & donor cars
Welcome to the BeetleBits Technical Desk. I am wired directly into our modern Volkswagen Beetle Mk3 (2011–2019 Type 5C) catalogue, live donor vehicles breaking on-site in Wigan, and cars for sale. Ask me about PQ35 parts fitment, Cabriolet electric roof diagnostics, paint codes, or specific parts you require.
PQ35 Platform Architecture
Launched in late 2011 to replace the New Beetle, the modern Volkswagen Beetle Mk3 (internal chassis code Type 5C or A5) was built through 2019 at Volkswagen’s Puebla plant in Mexico.
Unlike its rounded predecessor, the Mk3 sits on Volkswagen's mature PQ35 platform. This gives owners a tremendous advantage: under its distinctive retro-modern skin, the Beetle shares a large portion of its running gear with high-volume models like the VW Golf Mk6, Scirocco, and Jetta Mk6. However, bodywork, lighting, and interior hardware are strictly unique.
If you are replacing mechanical or chassis components, many items carry standard 1K0 part numbers and are mechanically interchangeable:
CBZB / CYVD), 1.4 TSI (CAVD / CTHD / CZDA), 2.0 TSI (CCZA / CPLA / CULC), and 2.0 TDI (CFFB / CUUA) share turbos, alternators, water pumps, dual-clutch DSG gearboxes (DQ200 7-speed and DQ250 6-speed), and 6-speed manual transmissions with the Golf and Scirocco ranges.Do not attempt to fit Golf or Scirocco parts to the following areas:
In mid-2016, Volkswagen refreshed the Mk3 Beetle range. If you own a facelift model or are converting an earlier car, watch for these changes:
